with a stucco exterior, you might instinctively avoid all plans with a brick or siding finish. However, adjusting the exterior is typically a minor change that most usually can be accomplished.

• Adjusting window and door locations.
• Minor room alterations.
• Changing a plan's foundation to a basement.

4. Some important factors to consider when determining your house plan are:
House width and depth: Will the house fit on the lot you already own or are interested in buying. Don't forget about local requirements which dictate how much free space must surround your house or how far your home has to be set back from the street.
Square footage: Will the home provide enough space for yourfamily's current and future needs?
Your budget: The average for new home site-built construction (not Modular) in Southern California in 2005 is close to $200 per square foot and rising. This number can vary from $165 up to $450 per square foot depending on the location, builder, the style of home to be built, and the finish quality of the home. Building with Modular often lowers the cost to build 10% to 40% less than on-site construction.
